Explore our industrial-grade, certified induction and synchronous motors designed for heavy industry applications worldwide.
An in-depth look into the design principles, stator-rotor electromagnetic coupling, and performance characteristics of three-phase squirrel cage motors.
The squirrel cage induction motor stands as the backbone of modern industrial automation due to its unparalleled mechanical simplicity and operational reliability. At its heart, the motor relies on electromagnetic induction, where a three-phase stator winding creates a rotating magnetic field (RMF). This field cuts through the short-circuited aluminum or copper bars embedded in the laminated steel rotor core, inducing a secondary current.
According to Lenz's Law, the induced current generates its own magnetic field, which interacts with the stator's RMF to produce electromagnetic torque. Unlike slip ring variants, the squirrel cage rotor has no brushes, commutators, or external electrical connections, eliminating mechanical wear and potential sparking hazards—crucial for hazardous or highly volatile explosive environments.

Key technological transformations driving the global electric motor market toward sustainable efficiency.
With statutory Net-Zero targets looming globally, upgrading to IE4 (Super Premium) and IE5 (Ultra Premium) efficiency standards is paramount. SIMO motors are designed with high-conductivity copper bars and low-loss silicon steel laminations to reduce rotor I²R losses, ensuring minimal heat dissipation and maximum electrical-to-mechanical energy transfer.
Operating a squirrel cage motor under VFD speed control requires robust insulation to handle voltage spikes (dv/dt). Our YVFE3, YVFE4, and YVFE5 series feature reinforced corona-resistant winding wire and insulated non-drive end bearings to eliminate capacitive shaft currents, preventing premature bearing failure due to electrical pitting.
In dust-heavy and volatile gas zones, motors must isolate any internal thermal or electrical faults. The YBX3, YBX4, and YBX5 flameproof series feature reinforced heavy cast-iron enclosures with flame-path tolerances that restrict internal combustions from escaping, meeting ATEX and IECEx specifications.
Deploying heavy-duty induction motors across major industrial verticals to ensure continuous uptime and operational safety.
Heavy duty mining systems demand motors that can deliver high starting torque under massive load fluctuations. Conveyor systems, ball mills, and primary crushers require durable, dust-proof propulsion. Our high-voltage wound rotor and squirrel cage motors (like the YX, YXKK, and YR series) provide optimized thermal capacity to absorb start-up inrush currents while operating continuously under heavy particulate conditions.
For metallurgy plants, where ambient temperatures climb dramatically, SIMO designs induction motors utilizing thermal insulation up to Class H, paired with double-ended water-to-air cooling jackets (YXKS / YRKS series) to maintain nominal operational temperatures under continuous duty cycle demands.
In refining applications, volatile materials demand motors that prevent spark generation. SIMO's flameproof and dust-explosion-proof ranges (YFB3, YBX4, YBX5) are engineered with high-precision joint clearances, sealed terminal blocks, and custom seals to prevent the ingress of dynamic gas mixtures or combustible dust particles. This makes them ideal for fan systems, main product pumps, and pipeline compressors.
Meeting compliance standards across international markets to guarantee safety, efficiency, and supply chain integrity.
Purchasing heavy machinery components on an OEM basis requires strict alignment with local and international norms. Systemic failures of critical mechanical drives can result in thousands of dollars of downtime per hour. Therefore, Xi'an Simo Motor maintains a strict quality management system certified under ISO9001. We deliver certificates for European market conformity (CE), United States testing standards (UL), and Eastern European regional requirements (GOST), providing simplified customs clearance and immediate operational authorization.

Squirrel cage rotors consist of solid copper or aluminum bars short-circuited by end rings, making them mechanically robust and practically maintenance-free. Because they do not feature carbon brushes, slip rings, or internal electrical windings, they don't produce friction-related sparking, making them safer, cheaper to manufacture, and highly reliable in harsh, explosive, or high-vibration applications.
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) adjust input voltage and frequency to control speed, torque, and power draw dynamically. This configuration significantly reduces startup current spikes, reduces thermal and mechanical stress on the motor shaft, and maximizes system energy efficiency, especially in pump, fan, and conveyor applications under variable load conditions.
High voltage motors operated with inverters are susceptible to bearing currents caused by common-mode voltages. SIMO installs insulated bearings on the non-drive end, grounding brushes on the drive end, or hybrid ceramic bearings. These measures prevent electric currents from flowing through the bearing ball contacts, eliminating spark erosion and premature bearing failure.
The IE5 rating represents the highest international efficiency level defined by the IEC 60034-30-2 standard. Compared to standard motors, IE5 motors reduce energy losses by up to 20%. This is achieved through advanced rotor slot design, low-conductivity magnetic materials, and optimized stator winding configurations, resulting in significant savings in overall operating costs.
Our flameproof motors (like the YBX4 and YBX5 series) are housed in high-strength cast-iron casings. In the event of an internal explosion, these casings contain the pressure and cool the expanding flame through critical clearances (flamepaths) before they reach the outside atmosphere. This design ensures that the external flammable gases or dust mixtures are not ignited.
