They are highly self-contained and require minimal maintenance, making them ideal for dry, dusty, or remote geographic regions. Conversely, the YKS series (IC81W) utilizes a water-to-air heat exchanger. Because water has a higher thermal capacity, YKS motors are more compact, generate less noise, and operate at higher efficiency. However, they require a clean, reliable supply of cooling water.
What starting methods are recommended for Simo's medium/high voltage induction motors?
For squirrel-cage motors (YXKK, YXKS, Y2), direct-on-line (DOL) starting is possible if the local grid can support the starting current (typically 5 to 7 times full-load current).
