Unlike standard motors, flameproof electric motors (such as the YBK3 and YBX4 series) are built to contain internal explosions. If volatile gases enter the motor enclosure and ignite, the casing is designed to withstand the internal explosive pressure without rupturing. Additionally, the joint surfaces (flame paths) are precision-machined to cool escaping gases below the ignition temperature of the surrounding atmosphere.
For environments classified under Zone 21 or 22, dust explosion-proof motors (such as the YFB3 and YFB4 series) prevent dust ingress. Combustible agricultural dusts, carbon black, or chemical powders can settle on hot surfaces, leading to auto-ignition.
